Replacing the stock Glock trigger can make a big difference in the feel of the pistol and help the shooter achieve better consistency and accuracy with their weapon. Some trigger kits are easy to install, such as a drop in trigger assembly, and others are best left to a gunsmith to assemble the trigger kit.

Alternate triggers are available at different price ranges, and while there's not a very wide range, you can still find sub $100 options as well as choices above $200.

If you’re in the market for a trigger upgrade and want to take advantage of the customization of a Glock, we’ve put together these reviews of different Glock trigger upgrades to replace the standard Glock trigger. The stock Glock trigger isn’t terrible, but you can get more performance, reliability, and sensitivity out of trigger upgrades.

Different Types of Aftermarket Glock Triggers

Each new trigger performs the same function, but there are differences in the trigger design. For a drop-in trigger, the installation process is fairly straightforward and can probably be done by yourself, but you won’t necessarily enjoy the same level of performance or ergonomics as one that has to be assembled out of individual trigger parts from a trigger kit.

Competition shooters will have different requirements for their trigger upgrade than casual gun owners or those using their pistol for self defense. Personal preference also plays an important role in the variations that you see between trigger versions after upgrading.

For competitive shooters, you generally want the trigger pull as light as possible without being at risk for the gun failing to fire. There is definitely some preference built into this as well, with some competition shooters preferring a heavier trigger pull, but as a general rule the weight will be higher for defense pistols than for competition firearms and a connector plays an important role in that.

Considerations When Choosing The Best Glock Triggers

The first question to ask is what is bothering you about the standard Glock trigger if you're a Glock owner? Does it have too much pre-travel? Too much over travel? Is the trigger weight not high enough or too high? What do you wish you were getting from your trigger that the stock Glock trigger is not bringing you?

It’s also good to think about what your stock Glock triggers do right and make sure you’re not sacrificing the durability and resistance to corrosion of the OEM parts. The best Glock trigger is one that lasts as long as you need it to and delivers identical results every single time you squeeze with your trigger finger.

9 Best Glock Triggers

1. Apex Tactical Glock Trigger Gen 3, 4, 5

glock trigger

The Apex tactical action enhancement trigger is a great choice for a drop-in trigger system. It comes with a trigger bar and everything you need to just swap out the Glock trigger in your gun. The trigger pull weight is about a pound lighter than the factory trigger, and the Apex has the same trigger safety features.

The Apex tactical action enhancement trigger is an all-around improvement on the Glock triggers that come from the factory. The pre travel, over travel, and reset distance are all reduced and it offers a nice, crisp trigger break. This is definitely a good choice for competitions, but if you’re carrying your Glock for self defense or on duty use then the smoother trigger pull may be a bit of an issue.

That said, I found the action enhancement trigger on the Apex to be crisp, responsive, and smooth. Not all Apex models are compatible with all Glock pistols, so you'll want to make sure you order the right Apex trigger for your Glock.

2. Zev Fulcrum Ultimate Glock Aftermarket Trigger

glock aftermarket trigger

The Zev takes a little more work to install, but it has great ergonomics and the right tolerances for competition shooting. It has a wider trigger pad and virtually no creep or pre travel on the trigger pull. The Fulcrum is a solid trigger and has a good trigger pull, all while keeping all three of Glock’s safeties in place inside the gun.

It comes with springs (can be combined with the Zev competition spring), trigger bar, and more to completely replace the original assembly. Zev only recommends their Fulcrum for competition use and not for defense or on a duty gun. For people who want to increase their accuracy and precision while keeping all the safety features (including the fire pin safety), the Velocity trigger may be the one for you.

3. Killer Innovations Velocity Arms Glock Trigger

best glock trigger

The trigger weight is set to 5.5 pounds on the Velocity Glock pistol triggers. The trigger blade has a flat face and they do come in more than one color. It has a trigger bar, trigger safety, and reduces pre-travel the way you’d want from something to replace the factory polymer trigger. They are made from anodized aluminum and have a textured grip, which you may or may not like.

5.5 pounds is on the heavier side, and it gives the Velocity trigger a clean break and short reset. This is probably not the best choice for precision shooters, but can be a great way to keep the pros of the standard Glock trigger and get rid of the cons for a duty sidearm or defense we.

4. Overwatch Precision Glock Trigger

best glock triggers

This is another great option for a drop-in OEM trigger replacement. It has a flat face and is made out of a 7075-t6 aluminum alloy. The Overwatch Precision Tac offers great aftermarket support. It does a good job reducing pre travel and doesn’t replace all of the OEM parts, so the only safety it replaces is the trigger safety. The indexing hook on the trigger helps with consistent finger placement.

The NP3 plating makes the assembly corrosion resistant. The NP3 also keeps the travel grit-free and smooth.

It does come with a trigger bar, and should go into your gun fairly easily. The finish is type III anodized coating on the trigger shoe and the safety tab. This trigger does not change the pull weight on the Glock, but you can purchase a separate disconnector that will make the weight on the trigger more suitable for competitions.

Overall the trigger travel is reduced and the drop and firing pin safety are not affected by this trigger. If you're in the market for a replacement Glock trigger that improves on the stock glocks', the Overwatch Precision Tac is a good choice.

5. Agency Arms Glock Aftermarket Trigger

Agency Arms Glock Aftermarket Trigger

Agency Arms not only sells triggers, but they can also install them for you if you send them your Glock Models. You can select the trigger shoe color, and you can also get a drop-in version that is easy to install yourself. The trigger resets particularly are very crisp, and the trigger face is flat. The entire assembly, beyond just the trigger face and trigger bar, can be swapped out.

The Agency Arms is an aluminum trigger that can work with any Glock as long as you grab the right one. You can order it on their online store or ship them your handguns and have them install the replacement triggers for you. The great thing about Agency Arms is how much they can customize their triggers for you, the bad thing is that they tend to be on the more expensive end.

Even their drop-in triggers will be more expensive than other options. Granted, the quality is there but it's something to be aware of.

6. Skimmer Enhanced Carry Trigger System

Skimmer Enhanced Carry Trigger System

What’s unique about the Skimmer triggers is that they aren't actually an aftermarket Glock trigger. They use the OEM trigger bar, stock trigger, and springs and just modify them to be more crisp, smooth, and predictable. The Skimmer’s reduce pre-travel, and do not allow it to be adjusted. The trigger bar and springs are highly polished and modified as little as possible to get enough improvement.

The one drawback to these is the price. Considering that it’s just a slightly better version of the trigger that came with your Glock, it’s on the expensive side. Small differences in a trigger pull and reset can make a big difference in performance, though. They reduce over travel and come with head screws.

7. Timney Alpha Competition Trigger

Timney Triggers managed to make arguably the best Glock 5 trigger by totally revamping the older versions that worked on Glock 3 and Glock 4. The Timney Alpha Competition Trigger has a different firing pin safety, firing pin, trigger bar, trigger mechanism housing, and trigger return spring.

The Alpha has a smoother safety bar interface and trigger shoe, all made of aluminum with a lighter pull weight. You may find that the trigger reset feels a bit longer, but it is tactile and audible.

Two trigger return springs are included in the kit, so you can change them if you have issues. The heavier red return spring is better if you have a reset failure. A wider trigger makes the Timney Alpha more comfortable. The trigger bar and sear are coated with NP3, which contains electroless nickel infused with Teflon to make metal slippery and corrosion-resistant.

The three Glock factory safeties, namely the firing pin stop, trigger safety, and drop safety, work perfectly on the Timney Alpha trigger. You need to clean the Alpha trigger at least once every 500-1,000 rounds to enjoy using it without any issues.

8. Tyrant CNC ITTS Trigger

The Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S trigger looks better without changing your trigger pull. It is easy to install and has an extremely fast reset after every shot, thanks to a 30 percent power spring. You can fire a follow-up shot with full force because the sear and trigger re-engage when the power spring is in use.

The CNC I.T.T.S has features of a curved trigger and a flat-faced trigger, which means you get the best of both worlds with a uniform trigger pull on every shot. You get increased consistency on initial and follow-up shots with the help of the curved trigger features.

Set screws instead of pins boost the strength and sturdiness of the trigger. These screws improve performance and make maintenance easier. The Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S is the best trigger for Glock regarding looks with performance.

9. Lone Wolf Adjustable

The Lone Wolf Adjustable trigger has a simple, durable single screw assembly with no press-out pins, a common feature in other triggers. The oversized safety lever gives the shooter’s finger more comfort. You get easy trigger bar swapping thanks to the two-piece design of this gun-adjustable trigger from Lone Wolf.

The smooth, symmetrical aluminum shoe, sold on its own in most outlets, is precision machined with large radiused edges. The safety lever gives more comfort because it is flush with the shoe. There is less wobble between the trigger bar and shoe with tighter tolerances on the best trigger for Glock in terms of flexibility on the market.

Buying Guide For Best Glock Triggers

Aspects of a Trigger Experience

When you're looking for a Glock trigger, there are a lot of subtle differences between a stock trigger and the best Glock trigger upgrades. One thing that you'll notice as soon as you pay attention to it is finger placement. If your finger needs to ride higher or lower on the Glock than you want, then you need to find a trigger with better finger placement for your hand.

Another important consideration is pull weight. This is the main one that all people tend to think about, but it really is important. The lighter the pull weight, the easier the pistol will be to fire, but it also increases the risk of accidental discharge and there's even the possibility that the weight striker will not be strong enough to cause the gun to fire.

Light primer strikes are not a good thing in any situation, but in a defense scenario the result could be death, so if you are looking for triggers with low pull, make sure to evaluate your reasons and decide if it's worth the risk.

With Glock triggers, the trigger safety can cause trigger pinch, especially when shooting a lot of rounds in one sitting. A lot of shooters never experience this, but if you run into it, it can quickly become a priority to get sorted out. One of the best reasons to get aftermarket parts is a reduction in trigger pinch.

More About the Glock Shooting Experience

One of the best features about Glock is the modularity of the firearms. You can find countless compatible accessories and they are relatively simple to adapt to your shooting style. Everything that affects the operation of the gun from grips to barrels to triggers are subject to modification on virtually all frame models.

The trigger you buy will usually be designed around a certain ammunition load. Each load affects the necessary shape and size of the assembly.

Shooter Preferences

Depending on your preference, you may want to opt for a trigger option that has a flat faced trigger as opposed to a textured one. A flat faced trigger gives you a lot of surface area to apply pressure with your finger, while a textured face trigger gives you more tactile feedback as you squeeze.

If you want to adjust the pull of the trigger or just give yourself more control over various aspects of the trigger pull, you may want to prioritize a Glock trigger that comes with a disconnector. Replacing the disconnector can shorten the overall trigger travel, make it smoother, and more.

The pull of the trigger is a matter of personal preference as well. As mentioned before, as a general rule, lower pull of the trigger helps with accuracy while higher pull of the trigger helps with preventing accidental discharge and firing malfunctions. The best thing to do is experiment with different weights and find what feels best for you and helps you shoot the most accurately and comfortably. If we talk about the binary triggers as fully automatic, then the answer is no. It is also known as the fastest binary trigger because a binary trigger system is designed to shoot much faster than a semi-automatic.

How A Glock Trigger Works

From the time the trigger is pressed to the instant a bullet is released from a gun, there is not enough time to blink. The disconnector in a Glock affects the trigger pull more than any other part because of the amount of tension it creates.

When the trigger is pressed, the trigger safety gets disengaged. The fire pin safety is then pressed by the trigger bar. At this time, the striker is being fully cocked with the trigger reaching the disconnector. The trigger bar drops slightly when it reaches the disconnector, which releases the striker. The striker springs forward, causing the weapon to fire.

What Else Matters?

The trigger can definitely affect not only your accuracy but also your consistency with your Glock. Too much creep can make it difficult to predict when you'll hit the break and can cause you to anticipate the recoil and pull the Glock to the side. But there are more things that can affect accuracy in addition to the trigger. Some of them have to do with the Glock, and some of them have to do with the shooter.

trijicon glock 43 sights

The main thing to do with you as the shooter is your shooting form. If you don't have your feet planted correctly, aren't holding the firearm correctly, or aren't doing it consistently the same way every time, then the trigger is the least of your problems. Going over proper handgun shooting technique is out of scope for this article, but it's definitely worth doing some research or even taking some classes.

Having the right optic on your Glock can make a big difference not only in how accurate you can shoot, but also how quickly you can get on target. You can replace the stock iron sights with fiber optic sights or even a red dot, but remember that any optic adds height to the Glock, which may stop it from fitting properly in a holster that would normally work great.

For concealed carry you probably want to stick with iron sights, but for a duty weapon or in the glove compartment of your car, having a red dot can make you much more effective with your Glock. You can also consider a scope with magnification if you want to get out to targets that are further away.

All I've ever done with a handgun scope is embarrass myself, so I wouldn't opt for it, but plenty of people use them effectively all the time.

You can also think about swapping out other parts of the Glock, like the grip, the slide, and even the barrel. These can all make it easier to shoot, more comfortable for your hands, and more accurate, you just have to be careful about getting the right parts that are compatible with your Glock, and you'll need to be prepared to spend a pretty penny on not only the parts but the gunsmithing.
