Choosing a new scope can be a difficult task; however, finding a premium quality scope for your CZ 455 for a reasonable price doesn't have to be. I am going to cover everything you need to know when choosing the perfect scope for your CZ 455 and provide you with a multitude of options that span multiple price ranges and uses.

The Česká Zbrojovka (CZ) 455 is a bolt action rimfire rifle that features an interchangeable barrel system. This interchangeable barrel system allows CZ 455 owners to easily change their stock configuration as well as the caliber of their rifles.

A large portion of the CZ 455 sold in the United States was sold as the CZ 455 American Combo Package; providing both the .22LR and .17HMR caliber barrels with the purchase of a CZ 455.

The American Combo Package was a popular choice among rimfire enthusiasts as it eliminated the extra expense of purchasing two separate rimfire rifles. Whether you purchased the CZ 455 as a package deal or not, you will need a scope to place onto the 11mm dovetail mount provided.

Included with a five-round magazine, the CZ 455 is a popular rimfire rifle. Fortunately for all CZ 455 owners, there are plenty of rifle scopes to choose from. Some scopes are more purpose-built than others, which is why I have put together this comprehensive list of the best scopes for the CZ 455.

5 Factors to Consider When Buying a Scope for CZ 455

1. Adjustable Parallax

The parallax in a rifle scope ensures that the reticle and the target are on the same focal plane within the tube of the scope. Some scopes allow you to manually adjust your parallax, and others are manufactured with a fixed parallax at a specific range. For the CZ 455, you want to look for a scope that has an adjustable parallax down to 25 yards at least.

2. Focal Plane

The focal plane of a rifle scope is determined by the location of the reticle. For First Focal Plane (FFP) scopes, the reticle is positioned behind the objective lens (front) and the reticle grows throughout the magnification range.

sfp vs ffp

For Second Focal Plane (SFP) scopes the reticle is positioned near the ocular lens (back) and the reticle sizes remain the same throughout the magnification range. For varying distance shooting, FFP is best, for up-close crosshair clarity SFP is best.

3. Reticle Design

When shooting slower rimfire rounds such as the .22LR which the CZ 455 is calibered in, a bullet drop compensator (BDC) style reticle is best. If you can find a scope with a BDC set to .22LR specifically that's even better!

bdc reticle

BDC-style reticles are better used in conjunction with the CZ 455 for hunting applications. For competition or target shooting, I would suggest looking for a reticle design that includes MOA or MIL style.

4. Turret Style

There are two basic turret styles on modern-day scopes. You either have a capped turret or an exposed turret. Capped turrets are better for hunting situations as the caps protect your turrets from catching brush and losing your zero. Exposed turrets work best for competition or target shooting when you are changing between distances shot often.

5. Magnification Power

For the application on a rimfire .22LR rifle such as the CZ 445, magnification doesn't matter as much as you may believe. A maximum magnification of 16x seems to be the sweet spot for the majority of applications the CZ 445 is built for. Of course, preferences play a big role in all aspects of scopes, but you won't find any super magnified scopes on this list.

1. Vortex Optics Crossfire II 3-12×56 AO Hog Hunter

cz 455 scope

First on our list is the Vortex Optics Crossfire II 3-12x56 AO Hog Hunter. As you may have already determined, the Crossfire II has a magnification range of 3-12x and an objective lens diameter of 56mm. Maximum magnification on the Crossfire II matches our prescribed magnification range for the CZ 455 .22LR caliber.

As we unpack the name further, we find that the Crossfire II utilizes an adjustable objective (AO) parallax which adjusts down to 10 yards and meets the needs of our .22LR caliber CZ 455. The Vortex Optics Crossfire II Hog Hunter was built for exactly that, hunting hogs. Built with anti-reflective coatings, a 30mm tube, and the huge 56mm objective lens this scope allows for hog hunting in low light conditions.

The Crossfire II Hog Hunter is built from hard anodized single-piece aircraft-grade aluminum which is nitrogen purged and o-ring sealed. These protections make the Crossfire II waterproof, fog-proof, and shockproof. With durability in mind, Vorex made the Crossfire II with capped turrets for those hog hunting expeditions.

The Crossfire II Hog Hunter weighs in at 21.1 ounces and has an overall length of 13.46 inches. The Hog Hunter utilizes second focal plane design technology and has a patented V-BRITE illuminated MOA reticle. Complete with Vortex Optics legendary VIP warranty, the Crossfire II Hog Hunter is a great hunting option for your CZ 455 and can be found on Amazon.

2. Leupold VX-Freedom 2-7x33mm Rimfire

cz scopes

Next on our list is the Leupold VX-Freedom 2-7x33mm rimfire. Aside from freedom being in the name, we find the magnification range of this Leupold to be 2-7x which fits the parameters for our CZ 455 application. The purpose-built application of rimfire in the name is a great bonus as well.

The Leupold VX-Freedom is in the same price range as the previously mentioned Vortex Hog Hunter but with more CZ 455 specific design features. The VX-Freedom utilizes an MOA-based non-illuminated reticle design which measures in 1 MOA increments.

The second focal plane design allows the VX-Freedom to have an incredibly crisp reticle at closer distances. Built from T6-aluminum the VX-Freedom weighs 11.1 ounces and has a full length of 11.04 inches. The VX-Freedom is completely waterproof, fog-proof, and shockproof.

The Leupold VX-Freedom offers seven brightness settings, scratch-proof lenses, and a 33mm objective lens diameter. The parallax on the VX-Freedom is fixed and nonadjustable which could be considered a negative for some, and the turrets are capped.

Leupold prides themselves in their included twilight management system, allowing for clear reticle view in the hardest lighting conditions. Complete with Leupold’s lifetime guarantee, the VX-Freedom is a great choice for CZ 455 owners who want the most out of their scope in the early morning hours.

3. Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x42

cz 455 sights

The Burris Fullfield II is the flagship scope series for hunting offered by Burris. The Fullfield was first introduced in 1975 and Burris has improved on its design every year since. Unlike the previously reviewed scops, the Burris Fullfield II is offered in four different sizes.

For application on the CZ 455, I am going to review the Fullfield II 4.5-14x42mm size rifle scope. The magnification range offered on this size series of the Fullfield II matches the magnification range we are aiming for for the rimfire .22LR. This magnification range also places us in the middle of the pricing spectrum for the Fullfield II.

With a 42mm objective lens diameter, the Fullfield II gathers enough light to make it an efficient scope for both close range and long-distance shooting. The custom magnification range allows the Fullfield a wide field of view at close range and allows your CZ 455 to stretch its legs with 14x magnification available.

The Fullfield II is made of steel and has an adjustable parallax which pairs well with the Burris trade marked Ballistic Plex non-illuminated reticle. The Fullfield II utilizes second focal plane technology and has capped hunting-style turrets.

The Fullfield II weighs 18 ounces and is 13 inches in length. Finished with a matte black coating, the Fullfield II is waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof. Burris offers a forever warranty that automatically transfers to future owners without the need for a receipt.

4. NightForce 3.5-15x50 NXS Tactical Riflescope

NightForce 3.5-15x50 NXS Tactical Riflescope

NightForce is a premium name in the rifle scope industry. The NightForce 3.5-15x50 NXS tactical riflescope is by far the highest-priced scope on our review list today. What makes the NightForce NXS such a premium-priced scope?

The NightForce NXS was originally designed for mounting on military small arms, providing mid to long-range strike ability. NightForce even claims that a US soldier, while under fire, received direct contact to the side of his NightForce scope. The round simply glanced off the NightForce NXS, leaving the US soldier unharmed.

I was not present for this interaction, but honestly, I don't doubt the legitimacy behind the claim. I have handled and shot many NighForce scopes and there is extreme durability about them.

The NightForce NXS has a magnification range of 3.5-15x utilizing a lower magnification for tactical situations and higher for distance. The NXS uses second focal plane technology and has an adjustable parallax of 50 yards to infinity.

The NXS weighs 30 ounces and is 14.7 inches long. For the durability rating on this scope 30 ounces is incredible. The NXS is completely waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof. The NXS utilizes a MOAR reticle and exposed turrets for quick adjustments.

NightForce’s zero-stop technology is what makes adjustments on the NXS crisp and unfailing. A quick reach and adjustment back to zero without fail are what NightForce customers demand. Made of T-6 aircraft-grade aluminum the NXS comes with NightForce’s limited lifetime warranty.

5. Simmons 3-9x32mm

cz 455 target

On the other end of the pricing spectrum, we have the Simmons 3-9x32mm budget-friendly CZ 455 rifle scope. This Simmons rifle scope has a magnification range of 3-9x and an objective lens diameter of 32mm. The magnification range on this Simmons scope lends itself well to not only the CZ 455 but to small-game and big-game hunting.

The Simmons riflescope uses a Truplex reticle and has an adjustable parallax from 50 yards to infinity. The Simmons rifle scope weighs 10 ounces and is 12 inches in length. Equipped with Simmon's quick target acquisition eyepiece, a hydro shield coating on the lenses ensure shot clarity no matter your environment.

The Simmons scope is waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof. Mounting rings are included in your purchase of a Simmon scope, and they will mount directly to your CZ 455 with ease. The Simmons scope uses a second focal plane design and has capped turrets. This Simmons scope can be purchased on Amazon.

Suregrip rubber makes adjustments on the Simmons easy in any environmental condition. Complete with a matte black finish, the Simmons is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Interestingly enough, any repairs to Simmon scopes go to Bushnell, not Simmons.

6. Nikon PII Vs. Athlon Optics Neos 3-9x 40mm

Athlon Optics Neos 3-9x40

The Nikon Prostaff Rimfire II 4-12x40 Scope BDC 150 is an amazing scope for the CZ 455. Unfortunately, Nikon no longer makes rifle scopes. After 70 years in the business Nikon has left die-hard Nikon rifle scopes shooters out in the wind.

This does, however, leave room for a bunch of Nikon rifle scope lovers to find a new rifle scope manufacturer to learn to love. Enter Athlon Optics Neos Rifle Scope 3-9x40mm BDC 22 Rimfire.

Both of these quality scopes offer an objective lens diameter of 40mm, allowing for a large amount of light to be collected. Both scopes utilize a bullet drop compensator reticle. The Athlon scope is better suited to the CZ 455 as the BDC is calibrated to a 22 rimfire.

Both scopes are waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof. Parallax differs between the two scopes, Nikon having an adjustable 75-yard parallax set to 22LR and the Athlon having a fixed parallax at 100 yards. The magnification ranges differ between the two scopes, the Athlon being my preference of magnification when applied to a CZ 455.

Athlon makes high-quality scopes for a budget-friendly price much like Nikon has in the past. For those of you who are disappointed in Nikon’s discontinuation of rifle scopes you should give Athlon a try, it may surprise you.

7. Nikon Monarch 3  Vs. Bushnell Engage 4-16x44mm

Bushnell Engage 4-16x44mm

Another great Nikon scope that has been discontinued is the Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x42 BDC. Nikon made many great bullet drop compensator rifle scopes and I am sad to see them leave the riflescope market.

Bushnell is an excellent rifle scope brand that is very similar to Nikon, and now that Nikon has bowed out, perhaps some Nikon fans will consider trying a Bushnell. The Nikon Monarch 3 and the Bushnell Engage have many similarities.

Both scopes offer a magnification range of 4-16x. The Bushnell has a slightly bigger objective lens diameter, allowing for more light to be captured creating a more visible reticle. Both scopes are waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof.

Both scopes offer an adjustable side parallax and utilize a stronger one-piece design to add to their durability. The Nikon Monarch utilized a bullet drop compensator reticle, while the Bushnell Engage uses an MOA reticle.

The Nikon Monarch used capped turrets, while the Bushnell uses my preferred exposed turret technology. Both scopes have multi-coated lenses for protection and have similar material used in the design. If you were a Nikon rifle scope fan, I highly encourage you to try a Bushnell scope for your CZ 455.

8. Vortex Optics Diamondback 2-7x35 Rimfire

Vortex Optics Diamondback 2-7x35 Rimfire Riflescope

Last and not least is another great option for your CZ 455 from Vortex Optics. The Vortex Optics Diamondback has a magnification range of 2-7x and an objective lens diameter of 35mm.

Vortex built the Diamondback for hunting applications, and it is ideal for close-range .22 rimfire, shotguns, and muzzleloaders. The Diamondback is made from aluminum, weighs 14.2 ounces, and has a length of 13.7 inches.

Equipped with a V-Plex reticle, Vortex created this reticle style to apply to a wide variety of hunting applications. The lenses of the Diamondback are multi-coated, and argon purging with an o-ring seal provides the Diamondback with waterproof and fog-proof performance.

The capped turrets protect precision-tuned adjustments that provide metal-on-metal feedback to the shooter. Built from a solid one-piece tube design the hard anodized matte finish creates a shockproof and durable scope. The Diamondback can be found on Amazon for a great price.

The Vortex Diamondback relies on a second focal plane design, with an adjustable parallax of 50 yards to infinity which is a commonality with scope options for the CZ 455. The Diamondback is covered through the Vortex Optics VIP warranty which is arguably the best warranty offered in the riflescope world.

Parting Shots

Whether you use your CZ 455 for varmint hunting, plinking, or target shooting, there is a scope on this list for your needs. I have covered many differing options for all shooting applications, and price ranges.

Keep in mind parallax, focal plane, reticle design, turret style, and magnification power when choosing a scope for your CZ 455. No matter the ammo you shoot, scope selection matters. Long-range shooters will benefit from a strong BDC reticle scope, and varmint hunters will benefit from an adjustable parallax scope that has a lower magnification range.

Many of the options I presented are rimfire scope-specific. The more the name of your chosen scope matches your shooting intentions the better off you are.

Which of these scopes did you like best? Do you plan on adding a rimfire scope to your CZ 455? Or are you simply looking to add to your collection? Let us know in the comment section below! Also check out, “BEST RIMFIRE RIFLE SCOPES FOR .22LR” to learn about rimfire scope options.
